i take effexor xr for depression and the bad dreams are a side effect, but thank God i havent had any yet.

Im prescribed at 75mg i took 2 for the first time tonight as i couldn't sleep so i wonder if the nightmares will worsen or not but excited to find out!My doctor took me off Ambien and put me on 100 mg Trazadone, which I took for the first time last night.

Immediately after going to sleep, I had the scariest, most vivid and extremely disturbing nightmares I have ever had in my life. and, yes it is best not to watch (t.v./movies) or read anything that is disturbing to you. I've been on trazodone for about 8 years. Then I started to build a tolerance to it, at 1 point I was taking 700mg a night and in a 72hr period I took 2800mg it was horrible and I was still up for about 4 days. So I kept taking the Ambien and decreased the trazodone. Then about 3 or so months ago I started having horrible, like life changing nightmares and night terrors.

I believe I started on about 50mg. You know all this time ive signed on to this website i never found anyone in texas thank god i thought i was the only one:) I did also take xanax before and it worked well for me so please give me a call anytime you wanna talk i actually was in austin but now im in elgin bout an hour from austin caring for my elderly aunt but austin is my hometown grew up there im now 28 my birthday is Oct.1,1982.the dr put me on xanax for my anxiety and fear of falling asleep because i was scared of what would happen. It’s very exhausting because I don’t feel rested at all, but if I don’t take my trazodone I don’t sleep. :) lol so please be patient with me. I wasn't sure if this medication was the cause of my nightmares, so I stopped taking it for about a couple weeks. I also just feel better in general and I'm very glad to be done with this medication.I take trazadone only when I have trouble sleeping, but it has the same effect on me.

I will still occasionally have an awful night terror, but they are few. All of that is lovely news, but it’s too bad it was delivered only because I had to wean myself off of Trazodone.
